Humanity is captivated by fear and desire. We suffer so much from greed and fear of deficit that the less fortunate perish and we damage our planet and physical and spiritual health. You could say our lack of consciousness is sickness. We need to learn to live in a noble, dignified and selfless way. Paradoxically it takes courage to leave our sickness behind and devote ourselves to health and harmony. It takes the attitude of a warrior.
Eps 75: Warriors In Unexpected Places
Warriors are a rare species but you can find them everywhere. Sometimes they show up, and it doesn’t matter if this is in the ghetto or a posh school, if it is a dude or a lady, if the color of his skin is black or white, or if he is young or old. Not every warrior is as eloquent as the other but when you meet a person who gets it you will recognise him if you had some practice.
Eps 61: Incredibly Beautiful Bike Path
Today I ran into a bike path created by Dutch artist and designer Daan Roosegaarde. He created a surface that collects solar power so it can light up at night. Not only does it need no or hardly any electricity, it also looks incredibly beautiful, reflecting the starry nights in Vincent van Gogh’s painting. Imagine the implications if more roads could be build like this. This not something conceptual. It is real; the bike path was declared open yesterday.
Eps 60: Thích Nhất Hạnh Is (Not Yet) Leaving Us
Moments ago the sad but touching news reached me that Thích Nhất Hạnh is passing away. He is still in is body but he is on his way out. This is sad news for us but also beautiful because he is 88 years old, lead a wonderful life and is surrounded by his closest students who he has been training for many years to be completely present with him in this very moment. We don’t have to feel sad for this beautiful Buddha, he is well prepared and ready, but for mankind it will be a great loss.
Eps 51: How To Hold On To Inner Peace
One of my warriors had an experience like above. She is thrilled by it. It is beautiful to receive such a gift for the first time. But later in the day that started so beautifully she had some difficult interactions. Her question was ‘how do I hold on to my inner peace?’ This is interesting! The moment we receive some inner peace we want to hold on to it. We want to own it, possess it. Our greedy ego wants to put it in his pocket and write his name on it. Mine! But inner peace it now something that you can own
Eps 47: Who Do You Serve?
If you have a room full of people with an IQ of over 120 why don’t ask yourself how to make the world a better place instead of how to make as much money as possible? Not only because it is noble to not be motivated by greed but because it opens so many more interesting possibilities. Trying to make a difference leads inevitably leads to uncovered and therefore adventurous terrain. Being rich never leads to fulfillment, being useful does.
Eps 44: The Difference Between Conscience And Consciousness
A man who lives through conscience becomes hard. That is a pretty bold statement. In my mind conscience is relating to seeing right from wrong. But as I continue reading I realize Osho is right: in most cases our conscience becomes mixed up with our Judging Mind. Although I also feel that conscience is related to the heart I can see that our conscience can become contaminated by fear and we confuse what is right with what people say is right.
Eps 33: Be Flexible
A fisherman was driving his boat towards the shore of the river. At some point he sees another boat coming in his direction. He signals the boat with lights, making sure he is seen. But the other boat doesn’t change his course. Now according to local rules the fisherman has right of way and he starts shouting at the other boat, since that boat is now within shouting distance. But the boat doesn’t change his course.
Eps 23: The Importance Of Developing Kindness Towards Body & Mind
The 100 Day Warrior is not just about becoming beach-proof and receiving a couple of tools that will make it easier for you to function in a competitive work environment. The vision is to help you appreciate your body and mind so that you begin to contact the fundamental notion of basic goodness in yourself thus providing the ground for helping yourself and others.
The only way to break through the dominant paradigm of selfishness and greed is by opening up yourself to yourself.
Eps 16: Finding Happiness In Everyday Situations
I have noticed that these moments of joy always catch me by surprise. I can’t say that special conditions are needed but there is definitely a correlation between the amount of discipline I am having in my meditation practice and the frequency of these experiences. To be more precise: if I sit once or twice a day every day then I definitely will start feeling more synchronized very fast. I can also say that since I have meditation in my life I am having these experiences daily, even on very crappy and difficult days.
